World Thinking Day is celebrated annually on 22nd February by Scout and Guide organizations around the world. It is a day when they think about their “sisters”and “brothers”) in all the countries of the world, the meaning of Guiding and Scouting, and its global impact.
This date was chosen as it was the birthday of Scouting and Guiding founder Robert Baden-Powell and of Olave Baden-Powell, his wife and World Chief Guide.

This year all pupils from our school, who take part in Guides and Scouts, were invited to wear their Scout and Guide Uniforms to school, in honour of the day. Mr. Kevin Forde, parent of Eoin and Holly, also a scout leader in the 55th Cork/Carrigaline Scouts, spoke to all pupils at Assembly time that morning, giving a brief outline of Scouts and Guides. He then invited Mr. Nolan to try on a neckerchief, which is very much associated with the Scout and Guides uniform. Pictured, below, is the assembled group of Scouts, Beavers, Cubs and Guides from our school, with Mr. Nolan and Mr. Forde.
Well done to all who took part in Founder’s Day!!
